Location and Description of holiday home to rent: A unique and historical 17th Century stone property of character to rent, situated on the West Cork coast, 6 miles south west of Clonakilty, 3 miles from Rosscarbery and adjacent to a mile long sandy beach (5 mins., walk) and Kilkern Lake to the eastern gable (viewed from the Master bedroom). Formerly the property of Lord and Lady Carbery of nearby Castlefreke Estate, it was used for parties and week-end retreats by the nobility. The current owners have extended and modernised the property where appropriate, conserving the original features such as sash windows, doors, high ceilings etc., This is one of the few unspoiled, beautiful areas left in the world where the rugged cliffs and coastline, stunning seascapes, strands and twisting roads are dominated by the Gothic spectre of Castlefreke Castle.
